Cedar Point immediately shut down the Shoot the Rapids water ride, and it remains closed. State inspectors are currently investigating the accident. The seven people who were injured received treatment and have all been released. It does not appear that any of them received life threatening injuries.
Witnesses at the amusement park described seeing the boat flip over suddenly and rushing into the water to help rescue the passengers. Both staff and random visitors at the park helped get the passengers out of the boat. The seven people received care at Cedar Point, and only one person had to be taken to a hospital.
