Photographer Giovanna Santinolli lives in Genova, Italy, a city known for its rich history and culture. While there are certainly enough sights in Genova to keep a photographer occupied for months, Giovanna has taken a different route. Using old-fashioned cameras and film, especially of the Polaroid variety, she photographs landscapes, people and objects, giving each a nostalgic hue. Her images are simple and have universal significance–a smiling girl, a small boat dock, a flower in the sun. The pictures seem to exist in a world of their own, separated from any time or location.
