Tomasz Wieja was born in Poznan, Poland and studied photography in The Netherlands, at the Fotoacademie in Rotterdam. He uses photography as a way to express emotions and explore the human psyche. His series ‘Blue’, which was recently exhibited in Warsaw, examines the introspective aspect of human existence, either by placing lonely figures against a shade of blue or by focusing on blue scenery, such as the sky. “Blue is a work commenting on introversion and isolation, those being a fact of life as well as a natural consequence of being human,” he writes. While the isolated scenes may lead to a reflective and melancholy state of mind, the repetition of a such a demure color can also inspire peace and comfort.
