A man set to have the world’s first head transplant met with the pioneeering “Dr Frankenstein” neurosurgeon who plans to carry out the ground breaking operation yesterday.

Russian Valery Spiridonov, who suffers from a life-threatening muscle wasting disease, met with the Italian neurosurgeon who claims he can perform a head transplant.

Dr Sergio Canavero wants to transplant Mr Spirodonov’s head onto another body as soon as 2017.
