Despite what some people think, not all types of exercise build muscle. If you want to put on a lot of muscle mass in a short amount of time, you will likely have to change up your diet and the way you exercise. In this article I’m going to give you some tips on how to accelerate muscle growth through proper diet and exercise.
First of all, the fastest way to build muscle is by lifting heavy weights. While many other workout techniques can help you lose fat, get into a better shape and even put on muscle, lifting heavy weights is by far the quickest way to do it.
Now, in addition to working with heavy weights you should always aim to increase the amount of weight that you lift or how many sets/repetitions you do. The reason for this is very simple – if you continue lifting the same amount of weight, your muscles are going to adjust to the workout and stop growing. A great way to ensure that you are continuously beating your previous workout is to keep a simple training log.
Another thing to keep in mind is that your muscles grow when you rest. That’s because muscle tissue breaks down from pressure when you lift heavy weights and push yourself to the limit. After each workout your body starts to rebuild the muscles adding an extra layer of tissue on top of the old ones, making your muscles look bigger and stronger. This process can take some time and is one of the main reasons why overtraining will never help you build muscle mass.
Now, in order for your muscles to rebuild as quickly as possible, you should be eating a healthy and balanced diet filled with lean protein, amino acids, carbs and various minerals and vitamins. Avoid foods that contain processed fats and grains. In general, eating lean meats such as chicken/turkey breast, lean beef, and so on is a good way to ensure that you take in enough protein without loading up on unhealthy fats. You should supplement your diet with wholegrain bread, pasta and rice (white rice, pasta and bread are not healthy). Eat lots of vegetables and fruits every day and don’t forget to drink plenty of water (sugary drinks such as sodas and various juices are not recommended).
